Originally only fitted to stores where high losses were a concern the advantages of having a visible deterrent quickly became apparent and now all Tesco stores over a designated size, or where shrinkage is an issue, are considered for our entrance gate system.
We use the Rotogate as it is smart, reliable and flexible and resets itself, a great advantage in the retail field. The gates provided to Tesco operate on overhead sensors which are unobtrusive and work with very little ‘lead-in’ space required. The design is very open and designed to cause as little impact as possible on customer through flow. The gate opens as the customer approaches and closes after they have passed through. An exit gate is provided for those who wish to exit without making a purchase. This system significantly decreases the loss from the store from trolley pushes and other bulk snatches.
Over 1,000 gates have been installed in Tesco stores and are backed by a maintenance agreement which keeps the gates operating at all times. Tesco has invested heavily in our gates spending over £3 million since last March alone on their entrance systems.
